THE BIRTH OF GOSENSE
Despite the fact that our team members did not originally come from a background of providing disabiility services, our deepest motivation has always been for our project to make a meaningful contribution in this area. Our company philosophy has been to launch a “lean startup” and to innovate while placing the end user at the center of our product design.
Our ultimate goal is to provide technology for a population dealing with disability. We also seek to extend to other markets and to the general public through the common use of our technology and through our expertise. Many of today’s commonly used products were indeed initially created for people with reduced mobility or loss of autonomy. Some examples of this are your television’s remote control and text messaging.
Designing a solution that allows users to move around town without having to use their sense of sight provides a new perspective on the world around us and therefore represents an opportunity to innovate!
Hugues de Chaumont et François Birot are childhood friends and are the GoSense co-founders. Together with their teams, they are designing a totally new and innovative technology for sensory enhancement intended for the visually impaired. In a world that has mainly been designed for sighted people, both men believe that it is necessary to improve accessibility for the visually impaired.
François Birot comes from the field of virtual reality and Hugues de Chaumont from the field of entrepreneurship. They have pooled their skills and know-how together into one common goal: designing simple and user-friendly products that improve a user’s autonomy, safety and wellbeing by enhancing their sensory experience through technology.
They will soon be looking for investors and partners in order to develop their business.
AWARDS AND HONOURS
| 2013 : The Entrepreneur's Day Grand Prix, organized by EMLyon and the INELSE Lyon/Saint-Etienne entrepreneurship cluster.
| 2013 : The Young Entrepreneurs of the Year Award, emerging category, organized by Campus Création, Grand Lyon and Lyon Ville Entrepreneuriat.
| 2014 : GoSense is among the 25 semi-finalists out of 1300 international start-ups in the "Hello Tomorrow Challenge" competition and has been awarded the FrenchTech label.
| 2015 : Finalist in the second season of "Invent Tomorrow", an international television competition organized by the Swiss channel RTS. GoSense is tied for third place with a final score of 14.9.
| 2016 : Winner of the 5th edition of the "Start'up SFR Innovation" program in the Social and Solidarity Economy category.
