Wizigo® is the travel assistant for the visually impaired
The Wizigo app is the first ever community-based GPS that allows visually impaired users to find their way around town using spatialised sound. Users may easily reach their destination without even having to take their phone out of their pocket.
The Wizigo app guides you in real time. It translates itineraries, points of interest and work or construction areas into sound signals. By means of spatialised sound, users are able to easily sense their environment, remaining aware of their surroundings at all times.
MYWIZIGO.COM IS THE WEB INTERFACE YOU NEED TO SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATE YOUR TOWN’S ACCESSIBILITY
The myWizigo.com web interface allows users to easily navigate their town’s accessibility. It allows all users to “lend their eyes” to others by creating sound signals for itineraries and points of interest. The myWizigo.com web interface is additionally free of cost and complements the Wizigo mobile app. It allows you to create your audio routes in advance, to view your points of interest and to share them with the community using myWizigo.com from the comfort of your home.
Once you’re ready to go, you may refer to your itinerary directly on your smartphone!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Users prepare their route by placing tags on a map, using their smartphone or computer. Wizigo then provides clear instructions to the user through discreet and intuitive sound alerts. There is a sound for each specific piece of information. Users know at all times whether they are headed in the right direction and where they must change direction. They may also consult any nearby points of interest.
Wizigo’s structure is based on community sharing: itineraries, danger zones and points of interest. If a user identifies a danger zone, he may report it to the app.
The community is then notified in real time of this danger zone, allowing members to anticipate and review their itinerary. Users may choose whether they wish to share information solely with their friends or with the entire community.
Wizigo allows you to follow any route independently, without having to memorise it. Itineraries become amazingly rapid and simple to follow thanks to sound and virtual indicators that replace tangible localisation and orientation markers. This may, for example, allow users to cross a large town square without fixed landmarks instead of having to bypass it.
